"Upbeat, positive, sunny, and celebratory," were the words used by designer Daniel Silver to describe the this seasons inspiration. Silver, along with Steven Cox, have taken to the likes of other designers, incorporating short shorts and sheers. The difference with this collection is the unique design techniques and colors. From sun-ray pleating and gathering to lingerie like color schemes of chiffon. This collection is provocatively sexy, in a masculine way.

The collection has an airy flow to them yet they are still exceptionally tailored and flattering for the male form. Indulging colors are the icing on the cake. The collection definitely has a mix of sex appeal without being extremely overt. Indeed, this season will include shorts and these are an absolute must. Below are a few looks considered GLAM HOMME.

Dior Homme "Cold Love" Menswear SS10

"Cold Love" was the name given by Dior Homme lead designer, Kris Van Assche for his Spring 2010 collection. Sheer, tailored blazers, cardigans, and parka's were the highlights. As mentioned before, designers are relying more so on ready to wear for the upcoming seasons. Most every style can be worn together, seperate or with apparel you already own. The color pallet consists of black, taupe, khaki, white and grays.

The sheer tops, although, not what you would consider a "staple" pieces, do however fit in quit well with the trends of this season. In addition, the sleeveless look is also in demand. Therefore, guys, this may be the time to hit the gym and tone up a bit. Below are some key picks from the collection that are considered GLAM HOMME.

Band of Outsiders Menswear SS10

Designer Scott Sternberg is back, after an impressive Fall collection, with his signature schoolboy-small tailoring. This collection is reminiscent of beach days and fun in the sun. Although the collection is very tailored, it still gives off a casual appeal with fresh and cool colors such as khaki and white. There were only a few pops of color in the collection including a super stunning pair of green trousers and dip-dyed, airbrushed shirt. The most captivating piece, in my opinion, are the tailored short-shorts. They are a must have this season. I've listed some key looks from this collection that are most definitely GLAM HOMME.

DKNY Menswear SS10

Designers Donna Karan and Jane Chunge menswear collection for the Spring/Summer consists mainly of ready to wear apparel. The color pallet is mainly khaki paired with other primary colors such as red, yellow, black and blue.

The looks are very interchangeable and have an casually cool feel to them. These clothes are designed with your closet in mind. They will work great with items that you already own, hence the term, ready to wear. Below I've listed some of the looks I considered to be GLAM HOMME worthy.

Mens Spring/Summer Preview

Yes guys, the 80's are still alive and well. I know we've all enjoyed more than our fair share of the skinny jeans punk era of the 80's but for the Spring/Summer designers have taken to the more upscale era of the 80's. So, if you are a true fashionisto, you should be hanging up those skinny jeans this Spring/Summer for a more casually dressed fashion approach.

I've been telling my friends who, for one reason or the other, despise the 80's that it is far from over. The 80's were a time of independence and rebellion. Fashion had no restrictions and style was more relevant. There were just simply too many trends of the 80's to just think that it would halt at skinny jeans, seriously.

Being a freelance menswear designer/stylist and student, naturally, I study fashion and trends. I've known for a while now that 2010 would be more dressed than what we've seen from the previous seasons of 2008-2009. Therefore, I stocked up on pleated and cropped pants, single and double-breasted blazers, dress shoes and (insert gasp here) short shorts. That's right, I am prepared for this spring and summer and it is not too late for you either.

During this recession designers have taken to a more ready-to-wear approach. These are separate pieces that are easy to wear and match with current items in your wardrobe. In addition, shopping this season couldn't be easier or financially straining. Most of these looks can be achieved by simply shopping your local thrift stores or even raiding your dad’s closet. There is no reason to be left in the fashion dust this year.
